About the Author
Jessica Mohan
Jessica graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (MA-TESL) from Northern Arizona University (NAU), located in Flagstaff, Arizona. Subsequently, she taught for five years in the Foundation English Program at Qatar University in Doha, Qatar. After relocating to the United States, Jessica has turned her focus on her family--more specifically, teaching her elementary-aged children.
Ms. Mohan has had hands-on training in theoretical aspects related to language learning, pedagogy, assessment, and CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning). Her coursework and teaching experiences provided her with valuable insights in teaching and developing materials for academic English instruction.
Ms. Mohan's experience teaching an ESL Drama course in the Fall of 2008 was the inspiration for this website. After realizing that her two passions, drama and teaching ESL, could coexist, Ms. Mohan began developing her knowledge and experience of teaching ESL through drama. The product of a Curriculum Development course is now the section of this website entitled "Bringing it All Together". The experience and knowledge gained from a graduate course in Drama in ESL teaching at Southern New Hampshire University, taught by Dr. Gary Carkin, is also incorporated into this site. One such addition is on the Process Drama page--see videos of a Process Drama lesson she and her classmates planned and implemented.
Hopefully you find this website and the documents within helpful.
